Medicinal beers
- Beer contains polyphenols, which have an antioxidant effect as free radical scavengers.
- Brewer's yeast is a good source of vitamin B.
- Because of the lactic acid bacteria and yeast, beer has a probiotic effect and improves the intestinal flora.
- Beer relaxes and soothes. Those who drink beer are said to have a 30 percent lower chance of developing shaking paralysis.
- Beer cleans the arteries. Prof. Walter Willet (Harvard) tells us "Not drinking is a risk factor for heart attack".
- Beer stimulates the metabolism, there is less constipation.
- Beer is a good diuretic, it stimulates the kidneys and reduces the risk of kidney stones.
- Because of the silicic acid it contains, it strengthens the bones.
In folk medicine, beer has always been considered a proven home remedy:
- a hot beer - don't boil it, just heat it to about 78 degrees - helps with cold and flu.
- Root beer is good for pregnant and breastfeeding women. It strengthens and nourishes.
- Beer produces milk because it contains the hormone prolactin.
- Applied externally, Biersatz cleanses and cares for the skin.
Beer from the perspective of TCM:
- nourishing and cooling
- moisturizing
- nourishes the kidney yin and heart blood and has a calming effect
- Eliminating Heat, Tonifying Qi and Blood
- Contraindication: Cold in the middle (tendency to diarrhea and/or abdominal pain that gets better with heat, pathogenic moisture (e.g. obesity, edema, congested lungs)
